Guide for Small Groups
Glad & Golden Hours: A Companion for Advent and Christmastide is an invitation to experience the Advent and Christmas season as a time of true rest, wonder, and spiritual renewal. We encourage you to journey through the book as a community—creating space for meaningful connection and reflection around tangible acts of celebration, food, creativity, conversation, and prayer.

Designed to be followed over 5–6 weeks (an optional introductory gathering, the fourweeks of Advent, and Christmas week), this guide offers flexible options depending on the interests of the group:
A communal meal. Experience the joy of feasting together, with each member contributing a recipe from that week’s suggested menu from the book.

An alternative low-maintenance meal or snack. For groups needing a simpler format, consider having members take turns bringing the week’s dish.

A creative project. For those who enjoy hands-on activities, gather around acraft project from the book each week. This can be an enjoyable way to share stories and reflections while creating something meaningful together.
In addition to the shared activity, each week’s session includes discussion questions to spark deeper conversation, encourage participants to share personal stories and struggles, and explore what it means to await Christ’s coming kingdom in the company of one another.
May this book and the gatherings it inspires be a place of rest and renewal for wearysouls—a reminder of the gift of “God-with-us” whom we celebrate together and a fore-taste of the eternal feast to come.
